Planning a simple Ironhead wiring harness

I am laying out a replacement harness on paper before working on the bike. What information should a useful wiring plan include?

I have the factory manual and want the finished diagram to make future troubleshooting easier.

Start by recording the actual components fitted to the bike. A previous owner may have changed things from the factory arrangement.

Keep connector names and wire labels consistent between the drawing and your notes. Clear naming helps when the harness is no longer on the bench.

Include a checklist for comparing the plan with the service manual and having the finished work inspected before use.
